Venison? Did it not go over well?

Avery had his first venison meal today at around 8pm and then at 3am he threw it all up. Should I have let him eat it again? Does that mean he can't have venison? He did have some kibble snacks as treats inbetween (which has never effected him badly before). Also right before he puked he would not stop trying to eat fabric, the sheet from his crate, I took that away and he started eating my bed sheet....He has also been acting restless since I got home from work (I work nights so I just got home at 1:30am)...

I always let them re-eat what they vomit. If he were my dog, I would try it again. The vomit may have had nothing to do with the venison.

He basically was eating the fabric instead of grass as he didn't have access to it. Was this venison that you got from where?

That's what I was thinking! Keep an eye on him. His tummy probably hurts. If he starts trying to throw up and can't or his belly starts to feel hard I would take him into the vet asap. Dogs can take gas-x. Not sure the dosage but I do believe they can have a human dosage.

This happened to Wallaby after his second pork meal. He ate around 6pm and then at 3am I was waking up to dog puke. He didn't try to re-eat it and there were no bone shards of anything. He;s been fine with pork ever since though. So it could be nothing.
However, venison like the others have said is very rich, and I'm curious to know where you got it from as well.
How much venison did you give him? Was it a whole meal of venison and nothing else? That combined with the treats may have upset his tummy. I had to fade in venison with Wallaby in thirds.

I should have mentioned that eating fabric when he is bored is normal for him, he has never gone to the extreme of eat part of my bed though. The venison was from blue ridge beef or something like that (ill have to look it up) it's a pet food supplier. Usually Avery has a stomach of steel so I can usually try something new as a full meal with no ill effects. Perhaps we will have to take venison a but slower. He took to rabbit with not issues. As for the treats I gave him they were orijen 80/20 and he probably had like 10 kibble pieces. Also he gets a treat for going in his crate and those were two small pedigree oral care...

I hope he's feeling better now, like everyone pointed out venison is very rich and does need to be taken slowly. I do have a question though, if he is raw fed, why give treats and dental care things that are full of ingredients. Simple freeze dried, one ingredient treats are great for raw fed dogs and beef ribs for the dental care.

As far as treats go he gets what I bought, I don't worry so much about their nutritional value because I am not that strict and he goes places that I can't always control his treat intake (ie doggy daycare and whatnot). Also as far as the kibble goes I want him to eventually be able to switch back and forth between kibble and raw with no issues because it may not alway be feasible to keep him strictly on raw.
