My Husband has been filling the freezer with squirrel since the season started. I wanted to freeze them for 3 weeks before we tried them with the dogs. So, Sunday morning breakfast was served up this morning and the verdict is in....they LOVED the squirrl. I am so happy! Any other raw feeders out there hunting for their dogs?

I too am a weenie. My Husband said he has always wanted to hunt. After stating for years that I could never be married to a hunter, I asked him to start hunting. Thats what feeding raw has done to me!!

Natalie: I have considered raising rabbits also. Hubby and I have an agreement. He kills and I clean. I love anatomy and a fascinated by bodies of all kinds, so I don't mind the cleaning at all. But the killing I just can't do. Not yet anyway!!

Our goal is to feed the dogs and us as much wild game as we can without buying anything from the store!

I do not hunt but I have a co-worker who does. I just asked him two days ago if he would allow me to have some of the deer when he kills one. He said, "I don't use most of it" so of course I replied, "Let me have as much as I can that you don't use!"

He is planning a hunting trip later this month and one in November. I don't have it in me to kill anything, (unless it has 8 legs), but if someone is going to kill Bambi and not use most of it, then I'm helping by feeding it to my dogs. Right?

By the way, I assume stay away from the leg since it's a larger animal but what about the rest of the deer? Anything else I should not use?

Deer are not really considered large animals, so their legs should be fine to feed. I can't think of any part that you WOULDN'T want to feed. It's all good stuff!
