I have never really paid much attention to Solid Gold, but I when I was ordering food- I got the 4lb bag of Wolf King from Petflow in their trials. My food from PFD still hasn't come. Sad to say Petflow shipping is way faster and I complained about them!
Anyways, Casper has been out of his regular food for about 10 days. He ate 5lb bag Evangers Meat Lovers Medley and now is eating the Wolf King. He is actually doing really well. He has allergies and it always a pain to find something he can eat. Neither brand was something I ever really looked at, but figured it wouldn't hurt to try since they were only a few bucks. Other than tear stains- his allergies hasn't flared up yet (knock on wood).
The Evangers is 30% protein/ 12% fat and grain free. The Solid Gold is 22% protein 9 % fat grain inclusive. I've never really felt comfortable feeding a food with fat that low, but Casper could stand to lose a few pounds. I would like to get him down to 110lbs which would be a little bit on the thin side, but should be much better on his hips/knees. He is around 115lbs now.
Is 9% fat ok to feed? Casper will be 9 yrs old this year and is moderately active, but has always been an easy keeper and I do have to limit his exercise b/c he will over do it and not be able to walk if left up to his on devices.
