I am dying here. I am moving to Sacramento Calif. and the price of chicken is crazy. I cannot find anything in my price range. The coops all want a membership fee and then the price for product is outragous and out of my legue. I am very nervous that I wont be able to feed raw there.

Right now I can get a box 40lbs of chicken necks for 17$, then hearts, liver and kidney are all around .
1.50-2$lb give or take. I am making 3-4 cases of food before we go if I can fit that int he freezer and if we can take the freezer with us. (use dry ice on road trip).

I have been searching, found one place but he is trying to sell me over priced already processed pet food and I want to do my own. Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

I know I always see something about the South California or San Fransico Co-op on the Carnivore feed supplier list. I forget which. Is that who you're talking about?

Have you checked prices at regular grocery stores? Like something similar to a Publix or a Kroger? My assumption (which may be foolish) is that the prices shouldn't be too far off in a national type chain?

Best of luck! Don't give up!

There is an awesome distributor in sacramento. There are some stores in the area that often have chicken quarters for around 60 cents a pound. I do the bulk of my shopping in Sacramento and some in Jackson. I'll help you keep an eye out.

I think Creston Valley Meats would be helpful to you. They deliver up and down the I5. My mom lives in Antioch and I order stuff from him for her so she only buys chicken and grocery store stuff on clearance for her sheltie. Here is last weeks order for my mom:

Raw undried bully sticks .50 lb
Beef neck bones .60 lb
Beef trim $1.10 lb
Baby goat head .50 lb
Pig ears .50 lb
Pig feet .35 lb
Pig head .50 lb
Pork trim or chunks 1.50 lb
Sheep/Goat feet and leg .25 lb
Sheep heads .55 lb

Sheltie is in heaven. They are very nice and deliver every two or three week to northern california area. index
