Hey Everyone
My name is Amanda. I am obviously in San Diego! I am married to a US Navy sailor. My husband and I have no children, except our dog, who might as well be a child for us. She is a deaf Australian Cattle Dog originally from the island of Guam.
I joined the forum because I am very interested in companion animal nutrition. I have a certificate of study in pharmacy as well as veterinary assisting. When I was studying in my veterinary course, I became really interested in canine pet products, specifically food. I enjoyed learning about pet food ethics and different questionable ingredients, although it wasn't extremely in depth. The more I began to dig around for more info to learn on my own, the more I've slowly become sucked in to learning as much as I can about pet food, ingredients, and nutrition.
When I adopted my dog I took her off the Kirkland dog food from Costco and put her on Nature's Variety. After finding out questionable concerns about their manufacturing and ingredients, as well as having issues with food, I have recently began the sample and trial of many different foods from a local holistics and natural food store. I have lurked around reading responses about different foods and have learned a lot from the members on here, so I thought I might as well join. Right now, I decided to feed Earthborn since my dog really liked the product line and has done well on the food. I also really liked the FROMM products as well. My ACD eats both kibble and canned food as well as the occasional treat of raw. I am definitely interested in learning about ALL aspects of food from kibble to raw, as well as other nutritional additives.
I am looking forward to speaking and interacting with you all!
