Goose soaked in brine?

I picked up some free meat a few weeks ago from somebody who wanted to clean our their freezer. Some of the meat was goose, and right before I was about to leave her house, she told me that the geese were killed very humanely and soaked in brine overnight. What is the purpose of this? Am I able to salvage any of the goose meat, or will it be too salty for my dogs?

When we process ducks that we shoot, we soak them in a salt water brine before packaging them or cooking them. Its not like they are injected with a saline solution, but if I were you, I would soak them in plain cold water for about an hour.

i wouldn't feed something soaked in brine but if you are going to definitely soak it in water first and try in small amounts.

also smell it first...a simple brine is salt, sugar, water but people can add other things for flavor...one goose recipe i saw had wine which you would obviously smell right away.

if you don't want to feed it as a meal you can always try to dehydrate/bake it after soaking it and use it for treats instead
