Is giving the blood to the dogs okay? Well, I figure it's alright to give to them but are there any nutritional benefits from it?
When I order meat there's always a quantity of blood pooled at the bottom of the bags. Don't want to waste anything.

From what I understand it's not actually blood, it's something from the cells breaking down, but yes it's great to feed.

I would think that there would be a good amount of blood in that liquid as well as water from the thawing, but that is interesting. I never gave it much thought. It looks like blood, it smells like blood, so in my head, I just went with... well... blood! That is interesting... I may have to research a bit and see what it is! I think I am fascinated now... :)

I let my boys have it too. I tend to give more to Dude though since I don't have to clean his upright ears after he is done. Nothing like having a hound puppy try and barge his way into the house with blood dripping from his mouth AND both ears!

Yup! It's fine to give to them, I have also bought actual blood [which looks a lot different] to give to Wallaby. I make him "bloodsicles" - a baby food jar with 1/4 tsp raw Apple Cider Vinegar, for tick control, and then filled with "blood" and frozen. I just pour all the excess bloody liquid from his meat containers into a container in the freezer [labeled "misc blood"] and then once every couple of weeks I make him a big batch of bloodsicles. He gets one or two a day and hasn't had a tick since I started doing this in May.

Lucky loves to drink the watery blood, when I am preparing her food into meal sized portions she will be there waiting to drink whats left in the packaging, it gives her a red moustache sometimes but she loves it

At the moment, the thought of this is skeeving me out! I definitely poured the liquid from the chicken packages in the sink last night.

I guess it won't gross me out so much once Z actually starts eating raw (which, based on kibble levels, is likely to be tomorrow!).

I've always let mine have it. I put all my food into 12 quart plastic containers, and fill them to the brim and go through one per day. There's always the "blood" at the bottom and after they've all gotten their food, I just put it on the ground, and they drink it all, and then lick the container totally clean.

Yep, I've started just putting the "juice" (for lack of a better term) in a bowl and letting everyone do what they want with it. The cats really dig it too.

Same here, I let my boy lick any blood that accumulates at the bottom of the container after thawing - he loves it and it's better than going down the drain in my opinion!

I also let my boys have it...but in frozen form. As Rhett is a swimmer/splash-er and well....Husband would be a little POed if he came home and we had "yummy juice" all over the house(inside OR out!)
