Hi,

We just adopted a rescue Papillon puppy that is 5-7 months old and at 7lbs. We want to give her a great start and feed her with the discerning attention that we give our own diet (thanks, "Food, Inc.").

What is a great dry food for our girl. The rescue foster recommended Nutripet and we invested in several bags of that, but now I read that this isnt all that great when compared to other options out there. We have the major chains and do lots of internet purchasing, so no real limit.

Yes, i have read lots of posts, so my head is thoroughly swimming. i see the top 5 brand posts, but I was concerned about the age/breed size factor that wasn't mentioned.

Thanks.

Are fresh foods an option? Or are you looking at kibble only. There are many, many ways to feed a dog and for ultimate health - I think a species appropriate raw diet is best. :) I am feeding a 5 pound dog and it's super easy.

Since your dog is a small breed, you do not need to feed a puppy food. You can feed any adult food you like. Orijen/acanna would be the best. Read the top 5 brand post thoroughly and search the rest of the threads. Also buy the smallest bag you can get, so your not stuck with a food your dog doesn't do good on. For a 7 lb dog, you can go out and get free samples to try out. Than when you find a food your dog does good on, buy a bigger bag:smile:
