Hi! New here... thanks to Kady who found this forum while researching raw for her sensitive stomach girl, Piper.

I switched to raw about 4-months-ago. My 3 dogs have been doing very well! And for someone who isn't that fond of raw meat... I find myself totally fascinated in their eating habits! My 8-year-old dog's teeth look AMAZING! Way better than they did beforehand! Their coats look great. Poops are awesome. They love mealtime! I'm very happy with everything so far!

I was just curious of what you all tend to feed on a daily basis. This is what my week tends to include...

My dogs range from 42lbs to 85lbs.

Chicken quarters (with bone), chicken breasts (no bone), chicken thighs (with bone), beef steaks (no bone), the occasional fish (though they get Fish Oil capsules daily), turkey drumsticks (with bone), chicken livers, cow livers, and I just gave them pork ribs for the first time. I've avoided pork... but just made the leap and gave it to them for the first time. They also get eggs on occasion. What other organ meats do you feed... and how often? Brody, the biggest, gets whole cornish hens every once in a while. I feed quail, too, when I can find it. I'm also planning on integrating venison and rabbit into their diets, too.

I'm just curious to see what other peoples' weeks of raw feeding look like!

Hi and welcome. Glad you found us too. We feed all parts of chicken, cornish game hen, duck necks, turkey all cuts though my guys love the necks, lamb lung, beef heart, venison heart, rabbit occassionally, fish usually canned, egg.

I try to feed spleen, pancreas, and kidney on a regular basis and i do liver a little less often because I don't want to overload them with Vitamin A. I probably don't feed as much red meat as i should. i feed alot of tripe, too.

They eat mostly chicken, pork, turkey, and I buy some rabbit and goat they get 1-2 times a month. Plus the "manager's specials" of really cheap stew meat or steaks. I need to buy some beef heart but I haven't yet.

Gizzards/hearts are cheap.

I feed salmon and don't give them any supplemental oils.

I am also four months in.

A list of what our dogs get depending on the season:

Chicken Quarters
Chicken Backs
Turkey Necks
Turkey Drumsticks
Pork Ribs
Boneless pork muscle meat
Boneless beef muscle meat
Beef heart
Tripe
Boneless venison
Eggs
Sardines
Jack-Mack
Tilapia

I hope to get some pork heart, and various cuts of venison this year as well including organs. For organ meat so far they've just had various types of liver & kidney. Haven't found a lot of variety in organ meat yet.

My guys have been on raw now I guess for around 7 weeks and they are all doing great so far. I know some of you saw my post about losing my baby Tommy but of course his death wasn't raw diet related at all.
I have 9 dogs on raw and so far they're eating:
chicken (I try to buy whole chicken so they get all cuts)
venison
sardines
beef (whatever cut I find for the best price)
tripe
and I've bought some pork but I haven't given that yet.
All of mine seem to need a bit of bone everyday to keep perfect poop so I just give them all a bit of bone in chicken with whatever else they're eating and all has been well. The only time I've seen soft poo so far has been when I gave some egg to Toby. I've given them a little organ meat from the chicken so far but not much. Should I start adding more at this point or is it still too soon? And does anyone have an opinion as to what would be the best option?

I wouldn't be too worried about adding some organ meat into their diet! Mine took to chicken liver easily... and you can usually just find it in your grocery store. My little girl decided that she's not that fond after a couple months... and prefers beef liver (but only frozen). If I were you, I'd just get a container of chicken livers and feed 2 pieces or so. The organ meat is a lot richer... so just go slow to avoid upset tummies. Mine didn't have a problem at all when I added organ meat... and I added it pretty soon after I started feeding raw.

Oh! I forgot... I also feed sardines! Mine go crazy over them! For those of you who do feed fish, how often do you do so?

It's very interesting to see all of the different meats and pieces people give! I'm hoping to get some more variety - it's just a matter of finding an affordable variety of meats.

My supplier sells ducks with their heads on. I can't stomach cutting the heads off!!! OMG, I thought I would gag to death chopping the chicken heads off.
The grocery store wants too much money per pound for ducks without heads and I tried duck necks, but all my dogs (including the puppy) swallow the dang necks whole! :twitch:

just... let em eat the head!

we actually spent the money on ducks....my dogs liked it, but i can't see ducks, even though i think they offer more nutrition than chicken...they're just too expensive and we have a higher than normal price point....
because we are only feeding a pound a day...actually less now..

and my honey never really wanted to retire.
