It has been suggested to me that one of the best chews for a teething dog is sticks.

And

That chewing sticks will lead to wood lining the throat which is bad.

Are they good, (ie, better than rawhide / nylabones) or do i leave well alone?

There are many different kinds of sticks so I will not comment on those. I would leave rawhide alone. I like nylabones. A good thing for a teething puppy to chew on is a frozen wet washcloth rolled up tight in a "stick" shape.

I'm with RFD on this one: nylabones can be your best friend with a teething puppy. There is also something out there called an Orka that is great because you can put them in the freezer & they retain the cold. They also come in a variety of shapes & sizes.
