There was a great deal on pork shoulder so I bought it. When I went to open the package, I noticed it was "smoked" so it was fully cooked, and the amount of sodium in it (1450 mgs/serving) would kill a horse. I got rid of it since I won't feed it to Cali, I won't give it to the food pantry.

Do you feed these grocery store smoked shoulders? Have you ever found "raw" pork shoulders? I have only come across the smoked ones.

I buy pork shoulder roasts all the time, actually that's probably most of the pork I feed. I also have never seen a cooked one on the shelf.

Whenever I buy someothing outside of the typical places/brands/cuts that I buy every month, I read labels really carefully to make sure everything is in fact raw, and not seasoned or basted.

Thanks. The only ones at Wal-Mart I went to has "smoked" in very small letters that I didn't see until I got home. It was Smithfield brand, I believe. Maybe my mistake will alert someone else to not making the same error.
