Hi after days, weeks of research I have taken the jump and have dogs on for 3 days so far my female is allergic to turkey... hives within 2 days...She had a chicken allergy when on what I thought was one of the best kibbles around...would love to hear from dachshund owners whom have raw diet experience..
Rambling on a little overwhelmed..
thanks to any and all advice....stories

Oh wow. That sounds pretty difficult. I would probably try lamb, fish, or venison. Those three meats are less likely to cause allergy issues for dogs.

I am hoping it was the turkey.

Thanks for ypur response , my other thought is have you ever heard of a dog being allergic to glucosamine perhaps the shellfish in " green lipped muscle" that's the only new supplements given to her.
Her son has been on glucosamine for a few weeks after my vet assumed he had a torn ccl mind you she did not do the drawer test. Well after a week of babying and the glucosamine he is as good as new.
I got a little of track there, I have so much to talk about regarding my dogs health.
Back to my point her hives cleared up after the first night on lamb. They are now a little crust where the hive was. Is that something hives do when clearing up?
Thanks,
I apologize for the novel.

Hello,
I am new to the raw diet...so new that I haven't tried it yet, but am reading about it. Well, right now both my dogs are chewing on a raw bone which is something that hasn't happened before. They love it. One dog, Sparkey, is four years old--bischon/poodle mix. The other, Feather, is a 8 month-old collie. I just lost Phoebe, my other collie, to cancer. Her pre-mature death motivated me to look deeper into canine health. I am excited about learning how to take better care of my canine friends.

I have never come across a dog with an allergy to the green lipped muscle. But that doesn't mean there aren't some dogs out there with those allergies. It is very possivle. Dogs, like humans, are very different from each other.
