we are coming up to our 2nd week on raw now, and have noticed quite an increase in both our pugs' eye boogers, more so with our little guy who has had all the allergies and sensitivities.

this is the only negative side effect we have seen so far, could this be a sign of detoxification?
(one was on CaliNat, the other Acana Provincials)

any thoughts or advice is much appreciated.

when we switched to raw, bubba's eye boogers were increased, which almost made us quit...mainly because he had just had eye surgery three to four weeks earlier...

for us, it did go away within the first month....'course, we are now into summer and if you have fans going or air conditioning or it's hot out.....pugs are prone....

we're going back to the eye doctor because bubba is rubbing his eyes again.....might be a return of entropion or we may have to use drops, which the eye specialist did warn might happen.....but i honestly cannot relate his eyes to raw....

have you had your dogs' eyes checked for any of the pug related eye issues?

My dogs are having issues with a little boogies right now and I think its just from whatever is in the air right now, allergens.

I agree with others that this may not be food related. Both of my dogs had horrible eye boogers when they were on kibble, which came to an almost immediate halt as soon as I switched them completely to PMR. But they still have episodes of increased eye boogers now and then which I can only attribute to environmental conditions, like long, hot summer days where they spend more time outside then other times of the year. Lots of things can cause this.

bug eyed dogs are especially susceptible to wind, fans, air circulators....those pugs and their eyes.....

i will say the boogers are nothing in comparison to what they were when we got bubba last summer....but he did have entropion and he had eyelids that needed to be reshaped
because he couldn't fully close his eyes...

if you haven't had your pugs checked, you may want to...entropion is a condition where the eyelashes on the lower lid are curled inward and scratch the cornea...they can lead to bigger badder problems....very common in pugs and other smushy faced dogs...also mastiffs....
