Dog has to stay outside

Dog has to say outside. Alright, the dog can come inside but can not get onto the couch. The dog is now allowed on the couch but not in the bedroom. Alright, she can come into the bedroom but not on the bed.... The bed is fair but only where others are around. K, she can use the bed anytime she wants but not go under the covers. Alright, now we have to ask the dog permission to see if we are allowed to go into the bed.

The above is a poem I read. It reminds me of my dog. I started out with crate training and creating boundaries. The couch was never one of them. She didn't seem interested so I didn't tell her not to be. As she showed the behavior I wanted her to show me I gave her more and more freedom from the crate. Now, she hardly uses it. However, she did discover the couch. I went to correct her but decided not to. I never did say she couldn't get on the couch so it is only fair right that she thinks it might be alright. She knows chewing anything besides what I gave her to chew is completely off limits and doesn't do it... even food!

Guess what she did next? She came into bedroom, looked at me then got up and laid beside me. I told her no and all has been fine. She just looks at me with her innocent puppy eye face as if saying "why not? I just want to join you".

I once put her food on the ground while talking on the phone. Hung up, did something else for a few minutes and returned to see a very upset looking puppy with a bowl full of food in front of her. Bridget why didn't you eat... I had forgot to tell her she could. I felt so bad for her that day.

Yep I feel your pain. No big dogs on furniture. Absolutely no dogs on the bed. Now all dogs on furniture and Richter is now starting to sleep on the bed
There are several rules and sayings for "Bull Terriers" and owning them...Wish I'd never let them on the bed, cause once they are on the bed there is no getting them off, LOL

LOL this is so true. We got brand new couches and said OK no dogs on them period LOL, 2 weeks later they are covered with thick blankets and 6 bullys are sleeping all over them LOL. And the bed forget about it, just glad we bought a king size lol. They act like they own all the furniture here.

So adorable these cute poems! Yep ,all humans start out with rules, and all dogs abide by them! Then the human mellows, and well, all dogs are allowed to forgo these rules and all humans abide by this..............................................

Guess im the minority!

My boys can come on the bed, or the couch... BUT.. Usually they stand there with the look asking if they can.
For the couch Duke will stand there and stare... so i say duke come on up.,. and he jumps up.

They know the bed is theirs... i can say bedtime and theyll run upstairs and get on their blankets on my bed lol!
Rebel always asks permission before getting on furniture, and I don't let him very often.

He has a huge comfy bed that takes up a whole corner of the living room.

I do let him sleep with me but he's not allowed up there whenever he feels like it - since I have dog allergies I wash his sheets every day and he has to wait until I am ready for him.

It took me many years for me to allow a dog to get anywhere near a spot I put my face because I am not fond of asthma attacks. I could never live comfortably with a couch that was full of dog hair.
Nice poem :)

Yep started the same way - crate, then one room, then two, then the house, then the bedroom. We have not progressed to the furniture or the bed. Mainly because our bed is only little and Becka would have pushed us out by now :). I am trying to persuade my SO to get a superking but at the moment I'm not winning :-(
