Bravo has voluntarily recalled a limited amount of raw frozen foods because of they may have been contaminated with salmonella.

In all, 231 cases that were distributed nationwide were recalled. There are three formulas with specific best-by dates that are affected.

These are the Bravo Frozen Pet Food that is affected by the recall:

• 5-pound Chicken Balance frozen raw diet tubes with “best used by” dates of 3-6-15 and 3-12-15 imprinted on the side of the plastic casing. Twenty-six and 36 cases of each were distributed, respectively.

• 2-pound Chicken Blend frozen raw diet tubes with the “best used by” date of 3-21-15 imprinted on the side of the plastic casing. Sixty-seven cases were distributed.

• 5-pound Beef Blend Burgers bags with “best used by” dates of 3-21-15 and 3-22-15 imprinted on the back panel of the plastic bag. Forty-seven and 55 cases of each were distributed, respectively.

At this time, Bravo reports that no salmonella-related illnesses were reported in animals or people. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning in pets include lethargy, diarrhea, fever and vomiting.

Bravo urges consumers to return any unopened recalled food to place of purchase for a full refund. Pet owners who opened the food are asked to dispose of it and contact the retailer for a full refund.
