Acana Senior Dog Food Review

As with all dog food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the dog food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.

Acana Senior Dog Food First Five Ingredients:

  1. Chicken Meal
  2. Steamed Oats
  3. Brown Rice
  4. Fresh Free-Run Chicken
  5. Peas
Chicken Meal is the first ingredient and is a named meat ingredient. A dog’s diet needs to based on the fact that dogs need meat and protein that derives from meat.

Steamed Oats are the second ingredient and are going to be the main source of grains. Oats are of decent quality.

Brown Rice is the third ingredient and is also of decent quality.

Fresh Free-Run Chicken is the fourth ingredient in this recipe. This ingredient is inclusive of its water content. Meaning that once the water is removed and this ingredients becomes a dried ingredient it will weigh significantly less, thus making it fall further in the ingredients list.

Peas are the fifth ingredient and are of decent quality.
